Ozarks Technical Community College will offer an accelerated, four-week welding boot camp this summer to meet the needs of the industry. Students pay nothing to attend the boot camp, and financial grants are available for living expenses. Anyone may enroll in the class as long as they are at least 18 years old.
The welding boot camp will run from June 21–July 19, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
(*There will not be a class on Monday, July 5.)
The welding boot camp can accommodate up to 18 students. Classes will be held in the ITTC building on the OTC Springfield Campus.
Students in the class will gain exposure to basic welding skills, such as:
- Welding safety essentials
- Introduction to welding and weld processes
- Math fundamentals for welding
- Welding symbols and codes
- Plasma cutting
- Polishing and grinding
Students who complete the course will earn a 10-hour safety certificate from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and a certification from the American Welding Society. Students will also have the opportunity to meet with recruiters from local metal fabrication companies.
Students interested in enrolling in the program should call the Center for Workforce Development at 417-447-8888 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The welding boot camp is the latest short-term training class OTC is providing this summer to help students obtain the skills they need for high-demand jobs. The college also offers four-week construction classes in Springfield and Hollister and two-week manufacturing boot camps at the Springfield campus.
