WHAT: Grand opening event for the Robert W. Plaster Center for Advanced Manufacturing
WHEN: Monday, August 15, 10 a.m.
WHERE: Ozarks Technical Community College Springfield Campus at the corner of National Avenue and Chestnut Expressway.
WHO: OTC Chancellor Dr. Hal Higdon, Missouri Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe, State Senator Lincoln Hough, Robert W. Plaster Foundation Representative Jason Hannasch, Plaster Family Representative Stephen Plaster, Emerson’s Keith Calhoun, OTC Board Chair Paul Sundy.
WHY: On Tuesday, April 3, 2018, voters in the OTC Taxing District approved a 5-cent property tax increase for the college. OTC promised voters that if they supported the tax, the college would, among other things, build a state-of-the-art center for advanced manufacturing. On Monday, August 15, the college will keep its promise when it opens the $40 million, 120,000 square foot Robert W. Plaster Center for Advanced Manufacturing. The PMC will be home to several of OTC’s technical education programs, including:
- Automation and Robotics
- Cybersecurity
- Drafting and Design
- Information Technology Infrastructure
- Manufacturing Technology
- Mechatronics
- Precision Machining
Additionally, 15,000 square feet of the facility are dedicated for use by industry partners.
