Ozarks Technical Community College has named Layton Childress as its new dean of Technical Education. Childress had previously held the position of Director of Area School programs at the College, and has also served as Director of the Career Center, Lebanon Education Center Coordinator, and Instructor in his ten years at OTC. The former dean of Technical Education, Terry Troxell, returned to the classroom full-time as a Computer Information Sciences instructor earlier this year.
“Mr. Childress has been an asset to the College for the last decade, and we know he will do an excellent job in leading our Technical Education programs,” says Dr. Hal Higdon, president of Ozarks Technical Community College.
A graduate of Liberty University in Virginia, Childress also holds a Master of Science in Technology and Occupational Education from Central Missouri State University. Childress has spent the last 22 years working in education, serving as a junior high and high school principal, athletic director, coach and history teacher while living in Savannah, Georgia. Prior to that, he worked as an electrician in Lynchburg, Virginia.
