You’re mere days away from shutting down that phone, closing your laptop and enjoying some hot cocoa and Winter Break fun. But before you do, here are the top four top tips recommended by OTC staff to give you the smoothest possible start to 2022. Here’s to a great spring semester!
4. Talk to your advisor or navigator.
Did you know that you have an assigned person to help you plan out your classes and sort through any random issues you might have? If you don’t know who yours is, log in to your myOTC account and select Student Planning. Then, at the top of the page click on Student Planning again, and you will get a dropdown menu that includes the option View My Advisor. Or just email advising@otc.edu!
3. Do you have special circumstances that require some extra paperwork? Make sure you’re up-to-date!
Are you a student veteran or an international student? Student Veterans: don’t forget to request your VA certification for your classes at the beginning of each semester. International Students: You must provide proof of medical insurance before you can register for the coming semester, so make sure that’s squared away! If you have a special circumstance not covered here, be sure to check your notifications in myOTC to make sure you have no account restrictions that might unexpectedly get in the way.
2. Make sure your financial aid is good to go for the spring semester.
Make sure you don’t have any outstanding required documents by logging into your myOTC account and selecting Financial Information on the left-hand side. There, select Financial Aid from the dropdown and then select Required Documents.
1. Register for classes NOW.
Don’t wait another minute — get the classes you need right now. This was the number one item echoed again and again by staff around campus. Again, go to myOTC, select Academics from the left-hand side, then Student Planning from the dropdown, then View Plan and Register. After you’re registered, you’re free to reserve your textbooks (It’s always nice to beat the crowd!) and select your payment plan (which must be done to avoid being dropped out of your classes). Register now while folks are here to assist, and you have your navigator or advisor available. And then rest and recharge!
