It’s been hard to plan for the fall semester, but we’re here with news to make it a little easier. The OTC Foundation is extending its fall 2020 scholarship deadline through August 10. That means there’s still time to submit your one-size-fits-all application at this link.
In other words, you don’t need to apply for multiple foundation scholarships at once — a single application will match you to all award opportunities for which you are eligible. As of right now, there are more than 50 scholarships still available through the foundation with monetary awards ranging from $500 to $6,000. There’s never been a better time to apply.
Why scholarships?
Scholarships are a smart financial aid option for many students, and OTC has hundreds of generous donors who want to invest in your success.
Unlike student loans, the funds you receive through scholarships don’t need to be paid back. Plus, scholarships are often an overlooked financial resource for students, and your odds of receiving money are often higher than you think.
Getting started
As you prepare to fill out the OTC Foundation’s 2020 scholarship application, the essay is very important part of the process. You’ll want to write a compelling, thoughtful essay to help your application stand out from the rest.
First, you’ll need to explain how an OTC Foundation scholarship will help you financially. Be specific. How will this scholarship directly benefit you and your education? What needs will it fulfill?
Next, you’ll need to indicate your commitment to your educational journey. What do you hope to accomplish at OTC? What are your long-term goals?
Remember, a solid scholarship essay will help set you apart from the competition. Take your time. Really reflect on your needs and goals, and ― as always ― check for proper spelling and grammar. If you need help with your essay, be sure to visit the Carol Jones Writing Center.
