Ozarks Technical Community College students who earn an Associate of Science in Biology can transfer seamlessly into Logan University’s Bachelor of Science in Human Biology program thanks to a new articulation agreement between the institutions. The collaboration marks the first time OTC and Logan have partnered on an articulation agreement.

Located in Chesterfield, Mo., Logan’s Bachelor of Science in Human Biology is a highly-ranked, fully online degree ideal for students who prefer an affordable, accelerated program they can complete in less than two years.

Atanas Ignatov, program director of basic science, said Logan is thrilled to enter into a 2+2 articulation agreement with Ozark Technical Community College. “The partnership enables OTC students with an Associate of Science Biology degree to apply their hard-earned credits toward the Human Biology (BSHB) degree which has earned a top spot on several ranking platforms,” he said. “Moving forward, the partnership will benefit students seeking to expand their education and career opportunities in the health sciences.”

The Associate of Science in Biology Degree Program at OTC is for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to earn a bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field. Students in the program study foundational topics in life science and general biology. The biology department also offers courses in environmental science and microbiology.

“When students complete a two-year associate degree in biology at OTC, they have numerous options available as they continue to pursue their educational and career goals.  Many of our biology students enter the field of healthcare by becoming physicians, physician’s assistants, pharmacists or genetic counselors. Many of our graduates go on to become wildlife biologists, veterinarians or work in science education,” said Dr. Joyce Hill, department chair of life science at OTC.  “We’re excited to offer our AS in Biology graduates the option to continue their education, and we look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with our colleagues at Logan University.”

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, between 2020-2030, the United States will produce three million new jobs for biology majors with a median annual salary of $65,000.
