Veterans Upward Bound

SPRINGFIELD, MO — Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) will host a series of informational sessions at four local coffee shops throughout August and September. Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) is a federally funded program that helps Greene County veterans attend college. VUB offers academic and career planning, financial aid and benefits advising, tutoring, admissions assistance and community resources. All VUB services are no-cost to veterans.

Coffee with VUB is from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. on the following Tuesdays at these local coffee shops.

Aug. 3: Architect Coffee Co.

Aug. 10: Big Mommas Coffee and Espresso Bar

Aug. 24: Black Lab Coffee Co. Downtown

Aug. 31: Fairbanks Coffee

Sept. 7: Architect Coffee Co.

Sept. 14: Big Mommas Coffee and Espresso Bar

Sept. 21: Black Lab Coffee Co. Downtown

Sept. 28: Fairbanks Coffee

In addition to the informational sessions, VUB will host a meet and greet event on Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. in the VUB academic lab in Information Commons West at OTC Springfield. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with staff, learn more about how the organization helps veterans, ask questions and enjoy light refreshments.

“We want to get out in the community and let the public know how we can help Greene County veterans start their college career,” said Joshua Boley, Veterans Upward Bound outreach coordinator.
