Ozarks Technical Community College is delighted to announce the return of OTC Weekend @ The Zoo, celebrating OTC’s conservation collaboration with Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield, Missouri. On June 25-26, OTC employees and students with a college ID can visit the zoo for free, and bring up to four guests at half price. Children age 2 and younger also are free.
“A few years ago, the college introduced our mascot, Ozzy the Eagle. Partnering with the zoo on eagle education and conservation was a natural fit,” said Mark Miller, OTC spokesperson. “Our employees, students and their families thoroughly enjoyed last year’s OTC Weekend @ the Zoo and are looking forward to this year’s event.”
The OTC weekend will feature all of the zoo’s fantastic, furry and feathered friends, along with free presentations featuring live eagles. Raptor experts will speak Saturday and Sunday in the amphitheater at 11 a.m. (weather permitting).
“Helping restore Missouri’s population of bald eagles was Dickerson Park Zoo’s first conservation endeavor,” says Mike Crocker, Dickerson Park Zoo director. “We are proud to partner with OTC and Ozzy the Eagle in our mission to save the species.”
