Ozarks Technical Community College is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to a new survey by the Great Colleges to Work For® program.
The results, released today, Sept. 13, in a special insert of The Chronicle of Higher Education, are based on a survey of 196 colleges and universities. In all, 70 of the 196 institutions achieved “Great Colleges to Work For” recognition for specific best practices and policies. OTC is included in the category of large institutions with 10,000 or more students.
OTC also won acknowledgment as an Honor Roll institution, a status granted to only 42 colleges each year, with special recognition in 8 of 10 categories, including:
- Job satisfaction and support
- Professional development
- Mission and pride
- Supervisor/department chair effectiveness
- Confidence in senior leadership
- Faculty and staff well being
- Faculty experience
- Diversity, inclusion and belonging
“When employees have pride in their institution and the college’s mission, it shows,” said Hal Higdon, OTC chancellor. “Our people make OTC a great place to work. I’ve known it from the time I arrived 15 years ago, and to get third-party validation about the college’s positive culture is gratifying.”
The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institution questionnaire that captured each institution’s employment data and workplace policies and a survey administered to faculty, administrators and staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback.
The Great Colleges to Work For® program is one of the country’s largest and most respected workplace recognition programs.
