OTC and Fort Leonard Wood officials at the fort

Fort Leonard Wood military personnel and their families can soon learn more about the educational opportunities available on base through Ozarks Technical Community College. OTC will host an open-house event July 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Truman Education Center on the Fort Leonard Wood military base. Free refreshments will be provided.

At the open house, OTC staff will be available to answer questions about the college’s degree programs and course options for the fall 2019 semester. Staff will also be on hand to walk prospective students through the registration process and explain important procedures including how to apply their military benefits and file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

This fall, OTC plans to offer a wide variety of general education courses at Fort Leonard Wood including English, history, math, political science, psychology and sociology. Additionally, the college will offer an Emergency Medical Technician course on base. OTC’s ambulance simulator will be at the open house. A complete list of course offerings for the fall 2019 semester can be found online at otc.edu/schedules.

OTC has a rich history of serving military personnel through its center in Waynesville, Missouri. Approximately 45 percent of students at that location are active duty military, dependents or veterans. Much like the OTC Waynesville Center, college courses at Fort Leonard Wood will be open to all students, including civilians.

Individuals with questions about OTC’s open house or its course offerings at Fort Leonard Wood may contact Director Rosalind Pride at 417-447-6632 or prider@otc.edu.
