Thanks to the generosity of the Springfield community and area golf enthusiasts, the annual OTC Foundation Golf Tournament was another successful event.

More than 140 golfers took to the links at Hickory Hills Country Club on Sept. 16. The goal of this popular fall event is to support students by raising money for scholarships. Financial aid is often the deciding factor if a student can attend college, and more than 73 percent of Ozarks Tech students qualify for some form of financial aid. Scholarships and fundraising events like the golf tournament through the OTC Foundation are vital to helping individuals further their education.

“Each year we look forward to this fun event and most importantly what it means to students,” said Amy Bacon, OTC Foundation executive director. “We are grateful to everyone who supports this tournament and our mission to create a better community one student at a time.”

With the help of participating golfers and 34 sponsors, the event raised over $70,000 this year. More than 200 students have received scholarships since the tournament’s inception 18 years ago.

Established in 1997, the OTC Foundation works to raise money for student scholarships, program development and other improvements for the college. Each year, the OTC Foundation awards more than $650,000 in scholarship assistance to hundreds of students with financial need.
