Technical education students at Ozarks Technical Community College will showcase their skills through a series of community-focused events that include a plant sale on April 23-24 and a car show and welding event on Saturday, April 25.
Plant Sale — OTC will host its annual plant sale on Thursday, April 23 and Friday, April 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Industry and Transportation Technology Center Greenhouse located on the OTC Springfield Campus near the corner of Central Street and National Avenue. The sale will include an assortment of flowers, herbs, vegetables, hanging baskets and combination planters.
The plants were grown by OTC’s greenhouse horticulture class, and all proceeds will benefit the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) student chapter. PLANET is a national trade association representing more than 100,000 landscape and lawn care industry professionals. Car Show — The college will host a car show on Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Industry and Transportation Technology Center parking lot of the OTC Springfield Campus. Registration is $20 and begins at 9 a.m. Food will be available for purchase at the event.
All proceeds from the car show will support SkillsUSA student activities. SkillsUSA students will judge the car show and award trophies for the top 100 vehicles. SkillsUSA is a national organization that strives to improve the quality of America’s workforce through technical and professional skills training. Community Welding Day — Saturday, April 25 is also Community Welding Day. OTC welding students will be available to repair broken household items from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Welding Lab, located on the north side of the Industry and Transportation Technology Center, near the corner of Central Street and National Avenue.
Items must be made of carbon steel, aluminum and stainless steel for repair. Items may include but are not limited to broken lawn furniture, lawn mower decks, wheelbarrows, barbecue grills, tables, gates and trellises. All proceeds will support the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks.
