UMB Bank has established the Society of Manufacturing Scholarship at Ozarks Technical Community College, which is available for students pursuing a degree in drafting, machine technology or welding.

“We hear that companies need skills labor, and kids are into technology. The hope is that we can connect young peoples enthusiasm for technology to running high-tech machinery. This scholarship is a way to get students into the manufacturing field,” said Ann Marie Baker, president of Southwest Missouri Region of UMB.

Scholarship applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Priority will be given to those who demonstrate leadership skills.

“The committed support of UMB to training the next generation of skilled technicians in drafting, machine technology and welding is evident with their generous donation toward the establishment of this scholarship. We are honored to accept it,” said Dr. Hal L. Higdon, chancellor of Ozarks Technical Community College.
