UMB Bank will renew the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Scholarship at Ozarks Technical Community College for the spring 2015 semester. UMB Bank funded the scholarship in the fall 2014 semester to assist students pursuing a degree in drafting and design technology, machine tool technology or welding.

“It’s our goal to encourage young people’s enthusiasm for technology,” said Ann Marie Baker, president of the Southwest Missouri Region of UMB. “Supporting this scholarship is our way of helping students learn the technical skills needed in today’s workforce.”

“OTC is training the next generation of skilled technicians in drafting and design technology, machine tool technology and welding,” said Dr. Hal Higdon, chancellor of Ozarks Technical Community College. “We appreciate UMB’s continued support in helping our students pursue careers in the manufacturing industry.

Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 to be considered for the scholarship. Priority is given to students who demonstrate leadership skills.

OTC student Nathaniel Strubel received the scholarship in the fall 2014 semester. “I really appreciate UMB’s contribution to my education,” said Strubel. “This scholarship has allowed me to focus on school – I’m working hard to achieve my dream.”
