Hollister, Mo. — Beginning in the fall of 2018, students at the Ozarks Technical Community College Table Rock Campus will have the opportunity to enroll in three technical degree programs: Construction Technology, Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, and Computer Information Science.
“When the Branson School District voted to join the OTC Taxing District in the spring of 2015, the college promised that we would bring career and technical training to the Table Rock campus,” said Dr. Hal Higdon, OTC chancellor. “These new programs for the Table Rock campus are the college keeping its promise.”
The three new programs diversify the degree options available to students in the Table Rock area. Currently, students at OTC Table Rock can pursue transfer and nursing degrees.
Details on the three technical degrees
Construction Technology. Students gain a wide range of highly employable skills that prepare them for entry-level construction jobs. The program teaches students everything from framing and roofing to flooring and foundations. The degree is recognized by the Associated General Contractors of America.
Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. Students are exposed to technically advanced equipment to prepare them to work in the HVAC industry upon graduation. Classes include: Refrigerants and Refrigerant Handling, Residential Heating and Air Conditioning, and Air Handling.
Computer Information Science. Students learn how to develop computer applications within the business environment of local industries using current programming languages, database programming and other development tools. Courses students complete include: Website Development, Software Engineering and Computer Programming.
In October, the OTC Board of Trustees approved a letter of intent with the City of Hollister to enter into an agreement to transfer 5.5 acres of property located to the north of the OTC Table Rock Campus, including structures. This property will house the technical programs.
The OTC Table Rock Campus opened in the fall of 2013.
