Students from Ozarks Technical Community College’s 3-Dimensional Design class will have an original sculptural installation on display at the Urban District Alliance’s C-Street Jam festival Saturday, May 9. The event will take place on Commercial Street in Springfield from 3 – 10 p.m.
“It is my class’s goal to create a sculpture installation that utilizes all discarded objects and reinvents them in a lyrical and kinetic way,” explained Instructor Kat Allie. “The content of the installation will focus on the inhibiting effects that trash and unrecycled material can have on the beauty and breath of our world and our lives.”
The College’s Fine Arts Department is housed on the third floor of the historic Gillioz Theatre complex in downtown Springfield. The facility includes a Gallery, which is open to the public and is a part of Springfield’s First Friday ArtWalk event from September to May, as well as classroom, studio and office space for the College’s visual art, music and theater programs.
