While classes continue at the OTC Branson Center, progress continues at the future home of the OTC Table Rock Campus. During its June meeting, the Ozarks Technical Community College Board of Trustees approved the project cost of $9,403,456.75. The cost includes site construction, building construction, OTC furnished equipment and supplies, information technology, permits, testing services and architectural services.
The cost of the OTC Table Rock Campus has been offset by multiple donations and the College has applied for a Rural Economic Development loan through the White River Electric Cooperative in the amount of $1,100,000; this is a ten-year, zero percent interest loan.
A few additions to the design of the campus provide for future student enrollment, the development of academic programs and the anticipation of the growth in the Branson/Hollister region.
Construction has progressed at the College’s new location, 10698 Historic Highway 165 in Hollister, since the groundbreaking held for the Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center in October 2011. The state-of-the-art, four-floor facility, will open its doors to students in the fall of 2013. Until then, the College continues to offer classes at the OTC Branson Center in the Shoppes at Branson Meadows, at 4440 Gretna Road in Branson.
OTC purchased a total of 8.25 acres located between Highways 65 and 165, including the former Crockey’s Restaurant, in December of 2010. In addition to the purchased land, the City of Hollister donated a contiguous .83 acres, bringing the total land now owned by the College to 9.08 acres.
Citizens in the Hollister School District voted to join the Ozarks Technical Community College district in April of 2010. Among other community benefits, joining the OTC district allows Hollister residents to pay the in-district tuition at the College, which is significantly lower than the cost for students living outside of the district.
