Three students from Ozarks Technical Community College were recognized at the Missouri Community College Association’s 50th annual convention. MCCA presented Student Leadership Awards to 21 state-wide community college students during the convention’s closing ceremony, which was held Friday, Nov. 7 at the Branson Hilton Convention Center.
Each year, representatives from MCCA-affiliated colleges and campuses across Missouri nominate students who demonstrate outstanding leadership skills for the award. OTC’s 2014 Student Leadership Award recipients are:
Ashley O’Neal, OTC Springfield Campus
O’Neal is president of the campus’ Phi Theta Kappa chapter. In 2013, she was the chapter’s vice president of promotions. She is working toward an associate degree in teaching and plans to transfer to a four-year university to pursue her bachelor’s degree.
Catie Myers, OTC Richwood Valley Campus
Myers is pursuing an associate degree in behavioral science and plans to transfer to Missouri State University to complete a degree in social work. Her ultimate goal is to pursue a master’s degree and work with the elderly.
Mindy Martin, OTC Table Rock Campus
Martin is an active member of the campus’ Phi Theta Kappa chapter and is training to become a licensed practical nurse. Martin has been on the OTC Dean’s List and gave the student commencement address for the LPN program in July 2014.
The Missouri Community College Association is a professional education association designed to promote the growth and development of Missouri’s community colleges and community college employees. MCCA is the only professional organization that exclusively serves the public community college system.
