Ozarks Technical Community College received the annual merit award from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) for achieving at least a 90 percent pass rate on its Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) examination during the 2013-14 academic year.
OTC Surgical Technology students achieved a 92 percent pass rate on the CST exam. Within two weeks of graduation, 100 percent of OTC surgical technologist graduates accepted positions within their field. The OTC Surgical Technology program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs in conjunction with the Accreditation Review Committee on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
Surgical technologists work under the supervision of a surgeon to ensure that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
