The Sunderland Foundation has presented the OTC Foundation, the fundraising arm of Ozarks Technical Community College, with a gift of $100,000. OTC will use the funds toward construction costs for the OTC Allied Health Clinical Simulation Center, a 2,000-square-foot, multi-disciplinary high-fidelity simulation lab that will allow OTC to educate more than 600 students across 12 programs, as well as provide training for a variety of healthcare professionals already in the workforce. The center is scheduled for completion in December of 2012.

“We are grateful to the Sunderland Foundation for their investment in the Simulation Center,” said Dr. Hal Higdon, chancellor of Ozarks Technical Community College. “This facility will provide important training for our students, and will help to thoroughly prepare them for their healthcare careers.”

Based in Kansas City, The Sunderland Foundation has spent more than 60 years investing primarily in the brick-and-mortar efforts of nonprofit organizations, including building construction, renovation, repairs and restoration. The Sunderland Foundation strives to support communities, families, and youth through capital and special projects that allow nonprofits to fulfill their missions.

“The generosity of the Sunderland Foundation is deeply appreciated,” said Cliff Davis, vice chancellor and executive director of the OTC Foundation. “The Simulation Center will make it possible for our programs to use our state-of-the-art equipment in more effective and realistic ways, and we look forward to finishing the construction in a few months.”

The OTC Foundation, now in its 17th year of operation, works to meet the ever-increasing needs of Ozarks Technical Community College through the funding of scholarships, new programs, and capital improvement projects.
