Jim Moore, managing partner of American Products, LLC, and his wife, Cathy, have presented a gift of $25,000 to the OTC Foundation, the fundraising arm of Ozarks Technical Community College.  The gift, which was made to support the Middle College program, fulfills the Moores’ initial pledge of $100,000.  Jim Moore is a member and former president of the OTC Foundation Board of Directors.

“The Moores’ gift will provide much-needed support for the growing Middle College program,” said Dr. Hal Higdon, president of Ozarks Technical Community College.  “They have recognized the value of what this program offers to area students, and their generosity is greatly appreciated.”

The Middle College program was created to help underachieving students to complete their high school education while earning free college credit.  The program, which is the first of its kind in Missouri, was initially piloted with Springfield students, but will open to other area school partners in the fall of 2011.

“We are grateful for the commitment to education demonstrated by Jim and Cathy Moore,” said Cliff Davis, vice president for Institutional Advancement and executive director of the OTC Foundation.  “Gifts like theirs help us to continue providing the education and training southwest Missouri has come to expect from OTC.”

The OTC Foundation, now in its 14th year of operation, works to meet the ever-increasing needs of Ozarks Technical Community College through the funding of scholarships, new programs, and capital improvement projects.  The current Major Gifts Capital Campaign includes efforts to raise money for scholarships, as well as for a Center for Health Education, Student Support programs, and Workforce Development.
