OTC To Promote Inclusivity During Loving Diversity Week

OTC to promote inclusivity during Loving Diversity Week

A wise Bono once said, “To be one, to be united is a great thing. But to respect the right to be different is maybe even greater.” OTC has found truth in those words and, following the U2 lead singer’s message, the institution’s MOSAIC Diversity and Inclusion Team will promote positivity during Loving Diversity Week – to be held Sept. 11-15.

Check out the week’s events at the Springfield campus below, and make plans to attend OTC’s celebration of diversity and inclusion in a safe, positive atmosphere.

MOSAIC Monday Pizza and Documentary

Monday, Sept. 11
10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Information Commons West 108BC, Springfield Campus

Come eat free pizza and watch the intercultural documentary, American Textures. A discussion about how to have meaningful dialogue around race will follow each showing.

Student Cultural Exposition

Tuesday, Sept. 12
10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Information Commons, Jared Family Atrium, Springfield Campus

Are you interested in learning about local culture? Phi Theta Kappa is hosting a cultural expo to learn about the cultures represented at OTC and our local community.

Meet the Mentors

Wednesday, Sept. 13
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Information Commons, Jared Family Atrium, Springfield Campus

Chocolate hugs are the best of both worlds. Pick up one (or a few) and a button at this event hosted by OTC Mentors.

Moth Studio Tattoos

Thursday, Sept. 14
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Information Commons, Jared Family Atrium, Springfield Campus

Temporary tattoos will never go out of style, and neither will suicide prevention. Come to this event, sponsored by OTC’s Counseling Services, to help raise awareness for suicide prevention with a temporary tattoo provided by Moth Studio Tattoos.

Coffee and Conversation

Friday, Sept. 15
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Farmer Conference Room, Springfield Campus

Coffee? Conversation? Two of our favorite things. Students can stop in, grab a cup of coffee, play games, and practice conversation skills in Spanish, French, English and ASL.
