OTC Foundation receives grant for purchase of equipment for Disability Support Services

The OTC Foundation has been awarded a grant of $9,376 from the William T. Kemper Foundation and the Commerce Bank Foundation.  The gift will be used to purchase Kurzweil Educational Systems for Disability Support Services at Ozarks Technical Community College.

Kurzweil Educational Systems provide reading assistance for students who struggle with learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, and attention deficit disorders.  The equipment is designed to scan textbooks and read the content aloud to students.  Approximately 56 percent of the students who use the College’s Disability Support Services would use these systems.  

Ozarks Technical Community College’s Springfield campus has one Kurzweil Educational System already; this grant will provide an additional system for the Springfield campus and one each for the Richwood Valley campus and the Education Centers in Branson, Waynesville, and Lebanon.
