Ozarks Technical Community College’s Department of Fine Arts and Humanities presents “Schoolhouse Rock Live!” the musical. Performances will be held at the Springfield Art Museum March 28 and 29 at 7 p.m. and March 30 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The show is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Patrons are encouraged to reserve their seats in advance through Eventbrite.
“Schoolhouse Rock Live!” is a staged musical adaptation of the 1970s Saturday morning cartoon, “Schoolhouse Rock!” The series taught history, grammar and math to children through catchy and clever songs. The musical’s plot follows Grace, a nerve-wracked school teacher on her first day of teaching. She tries to relax by watching TV when characters emerge from the set and show her how to win her students over with imagination and music.
“Our production is full of nostalgia and fun,” said Phil Forrester, director. “It’s a celebration of all of the classic ‘Schoolhouse Rock!’ songs including ‘Conjunction Junction’ and ‘I’m just a Bill.’”
