And it’s official! To celebrate the college’s 25th anniversary, a time capsule was sealed during the annual Holiday Reception on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015. Hundreds of time capsule suggestions were submitted and voted on by students, faculty and staff. The top 25 items were showcased during the reception before they were sealed inside the capsule, which will be on display in the Sam and June Hamra Family Library for the next 25 years. It will not be reopened until 2040, when OTC celebrates its 50th anniversary.

“From the very beginning, it’s been our goal to make the time capsule project a student-centered experience,” said Mark Miller, college director of communications and marketing. “Not only did students submit and vote for their favorite ideas, but they also contributed to the time capsule’s contents by creating video tours of campus and sharing their own predictions for the future.”
