The official federal census numbers are in for the fall 2011 semester, and the Ozarks Technical Community College system is serving more students than ever before.  A total of 15,179 students are enrolled this fall, up 9.1 percent from the fall of 2010.

“To go from just over 1,000 students to more than 15,000 in only 20 years is remarkable,” said Dr. Hal Higdon, chancellor of the College.  “It is clear that OTC has become an integral part of the education and training of southwest Missouri’s workforce.  We look forward to serving even more students as we continue to expand and open additional facilities throughout the area, including the new OTC Table Rock Campus in Hollister.”

The breakout of enrollment among Ozarks Technical Community College’s six locations is as follows:

Campus/Education Center Students Percent Growth
OTC Springfield Campus 10,185 6.8 percent
OTC Richwood Valley Campus 1,297 9.6 percent
OTC Lebanon Center 641 9.9 percent
OTC Branson Center 495 11.2 percent
OTC Waynesville Center 443 21.7 percent
OTC Online 2,116 17.8 percent
                              Totals 15,179 9.1 percent

However, a total of 4,674 students are taking at least one online class.  The College has offered online classes for several years, but demand has increased exponentially since OTC made it possible for students to earn a complete Associates degree online.
