Ozarks Technical Community College has named Dr. Reita K. Gorman as its new dean of General Education. Dr. Gorman had previously served as program coordinator for Communications, Education and Developmental Studies and project director for a Title III Teacher Education grant at Mid-South Community College in West Memphis, Arkansas. The former dean of General Education, Rosa Kavanaugh, retired earlier this year.
“Dr. Gorman brings a wealth of experience and skills to the table,” says Dr. Hal Higdon, president of Ozarks Technical Community College. “We are confident that the General Education department will continue to flourish under her leadership.”
A graduate of the University of Kentucky, Middle Tennessee State University, and Arkansas State University, Dr. Gorman has spent the last 17 years working in both secondary and higher education, both as an instructor and as an administrator.
“In the community college setting, reaching and connecting with students is so much easier and more profoundly effective than in any other learning environment,” says Dr. Gorman. “We have the opportunity to establish relationships with students that can motivate and move both the instructor and the students to greater success than either could imagine.”
