Ozarks Technical Community College Board of Trustees member J. Howard Fisk, with his wife Jan, have donated the use of a 15-passenger van for use as the College’s parking shuttle during the 2009-10 school year. The van, a 2007 Chevy, will carry students and employees between the Springfield campus and several off-campus overflow parking lots. It would cost the College approximately $2,000 per month to rent the van for the parking shuttle; the use of the van for the duration of the academic year makes the total donation value $22,900.
“We are very grateful to Howard and Jan Fisk for their help in meeting the immediate needs of the College,” said Dr. Hal Higdon, president of the College. “Having the use of this van will save the College thousands of dollars, and will help us as we work to alleviate the parking difficulties faced by our students, faculty and staff.”
Ozarks Technical Community College has parking agreements with Silver Springs Park, located just north of campus on Hampton Avenue, as well as three churches near the campus. These locations provide more than 200 additional parking spaces for students and employees. OTC Safety and Security employees drive the parking shuttle, which runs continually throughout each weekday.
