The first truck loaded with donated water, food, and other new items will leave the Springfield campus of Ozarks Technical Community College for Joplin at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, May 24.  The truck will leave from the corner of National Avenue and Chestnut Expressway, where the College is still taking donations.

The donated items will be delivered to the College Heights Christian Church in Duquesne, Mo., near the campus of Missouri Southern State University.  The truck will be unloaded and the items will be distributed through relief organizations working in the Joplin area.

Ozarks Technical Community College is still accepting donations at the parking lot at the corner of National Avenue and Chestnut Expressway, where items will be loaded directly into tractor-trailers from the College’s Transport Training Institute for transport to Joplin.  Donations of non-perishable food, water, blankets, boxes, and more can be dropped off between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.  As a reminder from the Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management, all donated items must be new.
