Ozarks Technical Community College has named Joan Barrett its new Associate Vice President for Student Affairs.  Barrett had previously served the College as Dean of Students and Registrar.

Barrett spent two and a half years in the position of Dean, following three years as the College’s Assistant Registrar.  She has also served the College in academic advising, financial aid advising, and registration.  She worked with the Ronald McDonald House of the Ozarks, as an assistant manager, before coming to Ozarks Technical Community College.  Barrett holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master of Public Administration, both from Missouri State University.

“Ms. Barrett has continued to demonstrate her commitment to serving our students throughout her time at OTC,” said Dr. Hal Higdon, president of the College.  “She has an excellent record of leadership in the Student Services department, and, in her new position, she will be instrumental in the enhancement of those services as the College continues to grow.”

A self-professed “Army Brat,” Barrett grew up all over, moving eleven times before she entered high school.  She and her husband, Mike, who works with City Utilities, have lived in Springfield 14 years.  They have two children, Ben and Madelyn.
