MSSU President Dr. Alan Marble (left) and Dr. Steven Bishop, OTC provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, shake hands after articulation agreement is signed.

Joplin, MO. – Ozarks Technical Community College and Missouri Southern State University in Joplin have signed an articulation agreement between the institutions’ honors programs.

Todd Yerby, director of OTC’s program and Dr. Michael Howarth, director of Missouri Southern’s Honors Program, along with administrators from both schools, appeared at a signing ceremony Monday, Nov. 16, at the MSSU campus.

Under the new agreement, the schools’ honors courses will be compatible, simplifying the transition process for OTC students wanting to attend MSSU. OTC honor students will be eligible for a $3,500 scholarship to the four-year institution.

“This is a great opportunity for our students who want to continue their course work at MSSU. We want to thank Dr. Howarth and the rest of MSSU’s administration for this agreement,” Yerby said.

Howarth said the agreement will make the transition easier for OTC students transferring to MSSU.

“We’ve talked to their honors students and told them about our program. They know that we’re in their corner,” he said.

The agreement will go into effect for the spring 2016 semester.
