Ozarks Technical Community College’s Department of Life Science, in cooperation with several business sponsors, invites students entering grades 6–12 to attend STEAM Days: a one-day, activities-based event that allows students to test, observe and explore the fields of science, technology, engineering, art or mathematics (STEAM).
STEAM Days will be held on Friday, June 19 for students entering grades 6–8, and again on Friday, July 17 for students entering grades 9–12. Both events will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the OTC Richwood Valley Campus, located at 3369 W. Jackson on Highway 14 between Ozark and Nixa.
*UPDATE: STEAM Days on Friday, July 17 has been moved to the OTC Springfield Campus in the Norman K. Myers Building.
Participants will choose from a variety of STEAM sessions including ecology, genetics, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, physics, microbiology, engineering, computer science, architecture, art, and mathematics. All sessions will be facilitated by OTC faculty and staff.
“We are very excited to present the inaugural STEAM event days at OTC this summer,” said Department Chair of Life Science Joyce Hill, Ed.D. “Students will select from a wide variety of sessions with a focus on active learning strategies. They will have the opportunity to observe, design and conduct experiments, while working collaboratively in small groups during the sessions.”
