Several colleges from around the Springfield area will come together on the campus of Ozarks Technical Community College to host a free FAFSA Frenzy event on Sunday, February 24. The event, which is designed to help prospective college students to file their FAFSA, or Free Application for Federal Student Aid, will be held in the Information Commons West on the OTC Springfield Campus, 1001 E. Chestnut Expressway. Financial Aid advisors and other volunteers from local colleges and universities, as well as from area public schools, will be on hand to help prospective students and their families to fill out the necessary financial aid forms. Participants in the FAFSA Frenzy event are asked to bring copies of their 2012 tax forms, federal W-2 forms and other essential IRS documents. To pre-register for the event, visit www.otc.edu and search for “FAFSA Frenzy.” In addition to the one-on-one financial help available at the event, students will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for scholarships. Drawing winners will receive their scholarship when they enroll in a Missouri college or university. The Springfield FAFSA Frenzy is one of several that will be held across the state on the same day, and is offered through a partnership between Ozarks Area Key Financial Aid Personnel (OAKFAP), the Missouri Department of Higher Education, the Missouri Association of Student Financial Aid Personnel (MASFAP), the Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority, the Lumina Foundation for Education and USA Funds.
