AED Solutions, a division of Ozarks Technical Community College (OTC), helped secure the donation of a $2,250 automatic external defibrillator (AED) for Crosslines, a service agency of the Council of Churches of the Ozarks. The gift was announced this morning during a news conference at Crosslines.
Representatives from OTC’s AED Solutions unveiled the new defibrillator, explained the collaboration between AED Solutions and Crosslines, and demonstrated the life-saving work of defibrillators with a high-fidelity mannequin from OTC’s Allied Health department.
Crosslines requested a defibrillator from AED Solutions to provide emergency support to its clients, volunteers and staff. AEDs can help combat sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) – a condition in which the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating. A heart’s normal rhythm can be restored through an electric shock administered by an AED.
Upon the completion of CPR/AED trainings by Crosslines personnel, AED Solutions identified Chip George with Marelly AEDs & First Aid as a donor. Beth Perkins, AED Solutions program coordinator, played a large role in securing the AED donation for Crosslines.
“We were very impressed with Crosslines’ initiative to request a defibrillator to support its clients and volunteers,” said Perkins. “We knew we needed to do everything in our power to find an AED donor while ensuring Crosslines met AED training and quality-assurance requirements.”
“Crosslines is very thankful for the gift of an AED,” said Tom Faulkner, director of Crosslines. “Each year, thousands of people use Crosslines’ services. Many of our clients have a variety of health issues. Having our staff trained and equipped with an AED will help us better respond to medical emergencies when they occur.”
