Ozarks Technical Community College will host a free FAFSA Frenzy event on Sunday, Feb. 9, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the OTC Springfield Campus, 1001 Chestnut Expressway.

The event, which is designed to help prospective college students to file their FAFSA, or Free Application for Federal Student Aid, will be held in the Information Commons West. Doors open at 12:30 p.m.

Financial Aid advisors and other volunteers from local colleges and area high schools will be on hand to help prospective students and their families to fill out the necessary financial aid forms. Participants in the FAFSA Frenzy event are asked to bring copies of their 2013 tax forms, federal W-2 forms and other essential IRS documents. To pre-register for the event, go to FAFSA Frenzy and look for the link to the registration form.

In addition to the one-on-one financial help available at the event, students will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for scholarships. Drawing winners will receive their scholarship when they enroll in a Missouri college or university.

The Springfield FAFSA Frenzy is offered through a partnership between members of Ozarks Area Key Financial Aid Personnel (OAKFAP) group, the Missouri Department of Higher Education, the Missouri Association of Student Financial Aid Personnel (MASFAP), the Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority, the Lumina Foundation for Education and USA Funds.

The Ozarks Technical Community College system offers associate degrees and certificates in a variety of technical, allied health, and two-year transfer degree programs, as well as workforce development opportunities and community enrichment courses. Classes are available at six locations throughout southwest Missouri, including the option to earn a complete associate degree online.
