The General Motors Training Center in Ardsley, N.Y. donated a 2013 Cadillac ATS to Ozarks Technical Community College’s (OTC) Automotive Technology program. The Cadillac was delivered to OTC’s Transportation department on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

General Motors pledged to donate vehicles to the top automotive winners of the 2014 SkillsUSA Championships, a national competition of career and technical education students. OTC freshman Seth Swango placed sixth in the Automotive Service Technology competition at SkillsUSA, which earned OTC the Cadillac donation from General Motors. The SkillsUSA competition was held in June in Kansas City, Mo.

OTC’s automotive program plans to use the Cadillac to teach students about automotive diagnostics and repair. “I can’t wait to work with the 2013 Cadillac ATS,” said Swango. “This is a great learning opportunity for automotive students to work with a newer, luxury vehicle.”

“The donation of the 2013 Cadillac is a collaborative effort based upon the excellent teaching skills of our automotive instructors and the talented students representing OTC at SkillsUSA,” said Steve Biermann, OTC dean of technical education. “It isn’t often we’re presented with these types of gifts and we’re very proud of those who worked so hard to make this happen. The Cadillac will be the newest vehicle in our transportation pool and will serve numerous students in the years to come.”
