The OTC Foundation, the fundraising arm of Ozarks Technical Community College, has received a gift of $15,000 from the BKD Foundation, the charitable division of Springfield-based BKD, L.L.P.  The funds will be used for the expansion of the Information Commons West on the College’s Springfield campus, and one of the new classrooms in the addition will be named in the firm’s honor.

“We are pleased that the BKD Foundation has chosen to support the College with this gift,” said Dr. Hal Higdon, president of Ozarks Technical Community College. “The investment of area businesses speaks volumes about the necessity of an institution like OTC for the local workforce and economy.”

BKD’s Springfield office, led by Managing Partner John Wanamaker, coordinated this gift through the BKD Foundation.  The company’s Chief Executive Officer, Neal Spencer, also serves as the president of the OTC Foundation Board.

“The OTC Foundation is grateful for the involvement of the BKD Foundation in this project,” added Cliff Davis, vice president for Institutional Advancement and executive director of the OTC Foundation. “This much-needed expansion would not be possible without the backing of local business leaders like BKD.”

The OTC Foundation, now in its 14th year of operation, works to meet the ever-increasing needs of Ozarks Technical Community College through the funding of scholarships, new programs, and capital improvement projects.  The current Major Gifts Capital Campaign includes efforts to raise money for scholarships, as well as for a Center for Health Education, Student Support programs, and Workforce Development.
