SPRINGFIELD, MO. –
This year’s members competing include Wesley Marr, Brooke Morrow, Tucker Tillis, from OTC’s Branson Education Center; Kimberly Underhill and Elton Underhill, from the OTC Richwood Valley campus; and Ryan Morris, Lori Highfill, and Frank Giddens from the OTC Springfield campus. Other team members participating were Gary Bartlett and Kat Westmoreland. The assistance of faculty and staff, including JC Walker, Bera Nichols, Luisa Bird and Ethan Hart, Enactus advisors and college instructors, was instrumental in preparing the team for competition. The team will travel to Kansas City, Mo., to compete at the Enactus National Exposition May 21-23.
The groups presentation at the competition consisted of a presentation/video highlighting their year-long community outreach, education, and business projects. The projects centered on the teams Enactus vision which includes leadership and sustainability; for success in this, the team was presented the Enactus 4.0 Club award.
Enactus is an international non-profit organization active on more than 1500 college campuses in 38 countries. The student organization was formerly named SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise). Enactus teams create projects to impact economic opportunities in their communities by organizing outreach projects. For competition, projects must meet the core criterion: Considering the relevant economic, social and environmental factors, which Enactus team most effectively empowered people in need by applying business and economic concepts and an entrepreneurial approach to improve their quality of life and standard of living? Each college’s projects are judged in competition on creativity and effectiveness.
