The official federal census numbers are in for the fall 2010 semester, and the Ozarks Technical Community College system has grown once again.  A total of 13,907 students enrolled this fall, up 7.9 percent from the fall of 2009.  OTC, which was named one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the nation earlier this year, has experienced significant growth every semester since opening its doors in 1991.

“There is a consistent pattern of growth throughout the College, with student increases at every location and online,” said Dr. Hal Higdon, president of the College.  “We are working hard to continue meeting the needs of our students, but with our facilities and parking lots overflowing as quickly as we can build them, and the possibility of more budget cuts on the horizon, we need the support of our community more than ever.”

The breakout of enrollment among Ozarks Technical Community College’s six locations is as follows:

Campus/Education Center Students Percent Growth
Springfield Campus 8,978 2.9 percent
Richwood Valley Campus 1,203 12.2 percent
Lebanon Education Center 570 26.1 percent
Branson Education Center 472 14.8 percent
Waynesville Education Center       357 68.4 percent
OTC Online 2,327 15.6 percent
  ———-     —————–
  13,907 7.9 percent

However, a total of 4,104 students are taking at least one online class.  The College has offered online classes for several years, but demand has increased exponentially since OTC made it possible for students to earn a complete Associates degree online.
