Alpha Psi Tau, Ozarks Technical Community College’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, recently placed fourth in the world among more than 1,300 chapters of the international academic honors society at the the 95th annual International Convention in San Jose, Calif.


In addition to the high overall ranking, the chapter also brought home a number of important awards including:


– Distinguished College Project

– Distinguished Honors in Action Project


– Distinguished Honors in Action Theme: Psychology Continued Excellence in Advising: Jo Fritts


– Third Finalist to Most Distinguished Chapter


– Beta Alpha Continued Excellence Award, the chapter’s second Beta award that can only be awarded after three years as a Distinguished Chapter.


“This was a very successful convention for us. We are beyond proud of our students and the chapter. They work very hard all year and the honors are a reflection of their hard work. We look forward to another great year with the chapter,” said Steve Fritts, co-adviser of Alpha Psi Tau.


Phi Theta Kappa honors students who have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, and places its emphasis on leadership, service, scholarship and fellowship. Headquartered in Jackson, Miss., Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in higher education, with approximately 135,000 students inducted annually into its nearly 1,300 chapters around the world. More than 2.5 million students have been inducted since the organization’s founding in 1918.
