OTC offers new Late Start Courses beginning Sept. 18

As classes filled up for the fall semester at Ozarks Technical Community College, administrators began looking for a way to provide for those students who were unable to enroll in the classes they needed.  The solution:  for the first time in the College’s history, OTC will offer Late Start Courses, or classes that begin after the semester is already underway.

“The need for additional courses became more clear as we realized we were not going to meet the demand with our existing schedule,” said Dr. Hal Higdon, president of Ozarks Technical Community College.  “This innovative program will make it possible for more students to take the classes they need to keep their education on track.”

These classes will meet on Fridays and/or Saturdays beginning Friday, September 18, and will meet through the end of the semester.  Class periods will be extended to offset the late start.  The ten course offerings are primarily introductory and prerequisite classes, including Business, Allied Health, psychology, English composition and developmental math courses.

“On the last day of registration, we turned away a significant number of students who were too late to get the foundation classes they needed.  We created the Late Start Courses as an opportunity to help those students progress in their education,” explained Dr. Randy Humphrey, Vice President for Academic Affairs.  “This program is one more way that OTC is working to provide exactly what our students need, when they need it.”
