The fifth-annual OTC Community Day will get off to a running start this year with the first Community Day 5K run to benefit the OTC Foundation Scholarship Fund.

The run will take place at 8 a.m. April 26, with the course starting and finishing on the OTC Springfield Campus. Community Day will begin at 9 a.m.

“Community Day gives community members an opportunity to learn more about what OTC has to offer,” said Stephanie Brown, assistant to the chancellor.

“The run will incorporate some of OTCs Allied Health programs. Students in OTC’s physical therapist assistant program will coordinate a pre-stretch. After the race, runners can have our nursing students check their blood pressure, etc.”

There will also be a non-timed, 1-mile fun walk in addition to the 5K.

The cost of the run is $25 for adults and $20 for students. Late registration will be from 7-7:30 a.m. on race day. To register for the race, go to

There will be light refreshments for the participants after the race.

Winners will be named in the overall male and female categories.

This year’s Community Day, along with the annual car show and welding repair day, is sure to attract plenty of interested folks.

Anyone in need of welding repairs can bring it to the College, 1001 E. Chestnut Expressway, and for a $10 donation, have the work done. The Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks will receive the collected donations.

The annual plant sale and car show will be taking place as well. A number of booths on the grounds will offer demonstrations and health screenings, including hearing examinations and health checkups.

The event ends at 1 p.m. The welding repairs will continue until 3 p.m.
