The Center for Workforce Development at Ozarks Technical Community College will offer area businesses and companies a program entitled “Basics for Your Bottom Line.”

The program was developed after discussions with local business leaders. The one-day seminar will focus on strengthening workforce skills that will result in a positive impact on a company’s bottom line.

Key topics of the seminar include:

• Identifying and adapting to the business culture

• Improving basic reading and math skills

• Generating an appropriate email

• Working with various generations in the workplace

• Rules of customer service

• Exceeding expectations

• Building and maintaining relationships

• Problem solving and initiative.

“The employees will be energized after the seminar to put what they learn into action. They will be thinking about all of the topics discussed,” said Dawn Busick, executive director of the workforce center.

The seminar will be held Dec. 1, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the CWD office, 614 N. Washington Ave. The cost is $249 per person. Registration is open until Nov. 24.

Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more. The program can be customized for businesses and conducted at a company’s location.

“If a company doesn’t have enough folks to cover their services and send people to the class, we can come on site with the program. We can customize the program to suit the company’s needs depending on the subject. It can be in the retail area, the exchange of money and cash-register operation or communications, both written and verbal,” Busick said.

This bottom line class will be offered on a continual basis. Call 417-447-8901 for the next available opening or go to http://www.otc.edu/workforce/workforce.php
