Traveling abroad is only a dream to many students, but for several Ozarks Technical Community College students, this dream will soon become a reality. Students taking CRM 295 – Study Abroad: Comparative Criminal Justice will embark on an eight-day trip to London, England this May to track the evolution of the British legal system.

During the trip, the students will spend time visiting the Tower of London, Parliament, the Royal Courts of Justice, and other historical sites valuable to the course. Plus, they’ll learn about infamous mass murderer Jack-the-Ripper during a walking tour of the city.

“The best way to learn about the American criminal justice system is to learn about the system from which it was adopted,” said Andrea Jones-Logan, the OTC criminology instructor organizing the trip. “I encourage everyone to take a step out of their comfort zone and sign up for this program.”

The students will also have the opportunity to spend a portion of their time abroad exploring the city and experiencing English culture for themselves.

Andrea Jones-Logan said the trip isn’t just for students.

“This trip is open to both faculty, staff and the community,” said Jones-Logan. “Everyone deserves the opportunity to experience English culture first-hand.”

OTC has partnered with EF College Study Tours to make this trip possible and will cost $3,440.00 per person. According to a study by the tour company, nearly 70 percent of students said their program made them more excited about their course of study and that they had a better understanding of global issues.
