Meet James Ackerman, OTC communication instructor and Speech Communication Center director. This fitness guru/Harry Potter fanatic/Zoolander fan will be serving up your favorite Starbucks drinks on Monday, April 17 from 11 a.m. to noon.
When you stop by for your favorite drink on Monday, be sure to grab a photo with Mr. Ackerman and post it on Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #PassTheApron. You’ll be entered into a drawing for a $25 Starbucks gift card!

1. If you were a Starbucks drink, what would you be and why?
ORANGE MOCHA FRAPPUCINO!!! That’s one of my favorite lines from the movie Zoolander. If you knew that already then you’re super cool! I actually don’t like or drink coffee. I know, crazy right? So I’d totally be a fruit smoothie (spring/summer) or a hot chocolate (fall/winter).
2. If you could be anywhere in the world drinking your favorite Starbucks drink, where would you be and why?
I’d be taking an in-depth tour of Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, England with my wife. We are both Harry Potter fanatics. Alnwick Castle was the set they used for Hogwarts in the first two Harry Potter movies.
3. What’s your favorite thing about OTC (besides the fact that we have a Starbucks)?
Sometimes I listen to other people talk about how they dread going to work. They just aren’t happy with their careers. I feel so bad for them because I absolutely love what I do at OTC. That’s because I work with some of the most amazing coworkers. I’m also blessed with phenomenal students who encourage, inspire, and challenge me each and every day. I am so thankful for this college!
